Panama

As everyone knows, large canals play very important roles for global trading.

Especially, the most famous canals, namely Suez Canal and Panama Canal.

Until now, I have not paid much attention to Panama although Panama Canal is popular and great achievement.

Today, I read an article of a newspaper about Panama City (capital city of Panama) and the article said that the city has international atmosphere based on the history of Panama.

Panama endured many interventions from other nations such as USA, France and Columbia because Panama has been located on very inmportant and valuable position which link between the Atlantic and Pacific ocean.

Based on the relationships of other nations, Panama has developed the unique culture which combine those of other nations.

In addition, finance and sightseeing industries flourish in Panama, therefore there are many skyscrapers in the center of Panama City.

The more I read the article, the more I knew about the circumstances of Panama and startled at the uniqueness of the nation.

If I get a chance to visit to Middle America, I will attempt to see both Panama and Costa Rica (I am interested in Costa Rica because the nation never has any forces but can keep the independence).

secure a space to learn

Recently, I have not studied English well with some reasons.

The largest and most severe factor is my weak will.

At home, I must resist against many temptations like internet, favorite books and sleeping.

In addition, I must (or want to) share my time with my wife (I never excuse about this consequence).

Accoringly, I have not spent enough time to study to satisfied me.

As a result, I can not help reflecting my current deplorable situations and seek some way to improve them.

As a way to change me, I weigh to use a rental studying room near from my office.

The room for which I will contract will cost 15,000 yen per a month.

It is never cheap but I will regret unless I will use the room.

As you can imagine easily, it was difficult to pursuade my wife to allow me to use it because our common time will decrease.

"I will miss you", she said. Of couse, I was delighted as her husband. But our good relationship has prevented me to study. Thus, I try to ease her anxiety and let her understand my dicision.

Finally, she allowed me to use it. So, I will go to the room on coming Friday to see ii before the contract.

I thank her for permission and want to study hard in the room.

tailor shirt

Recently, I have been interested in tailor shirts because they are very fashonable and good fashion in the office will strength my tension at work.

I checked the prices of tailor shirts on the website of some tailor shops.

I found some shops and was fascinated with Kamakura shirts.

The company provide wide range of fabrics (both Japanese and imports) and they are excellent.

Especially, imports series are composed of prestige brand items, namely Testa, Thomas Mason etc.

In addition, we can select our favorite designs in detail.

On the website, we can order a tailored shirt with import material with only 12,600 yen.

When I will afford to buy it, I want to order a tailored shirt and ascend to the next stage as a business person (?).

Of course, I must fuifill other conditions to go to next stage.

For instance, I must study English more to acquire not only good scores of IELTS/GMAT but also good command of English.

Perhaps, when I will hold both fashonable garments and good English command, I will be confident as a fledged businessperson.

peace attempt between Takeda clan and Oda clan

For prosperity of nations, deplomacy is an important factor in all times and places.

Of course, lords in war era in Japan paid much attention to diplomacy.

In 1575, Takeda clan led by Takeda Katsuyori had a battle in Nagashino against alliance forces of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu.

In the battle, Oda and Tokugawa comletely defeated Takade force and Takeda clan loses many great commanders including Yamagata Masakage, Baba Nobuharu, Naito Masatoyo and Sanada Nobutsuna (brother of Masayuki).
As a result of the battle, Takeda had lost its power rapidly while Oda had taken steps to expand the power.

Bad end approached to Katsuyori. Of course, Katsuyori tried to make the sircumstances better with implement of revolution of organization and good deplomacy.

One of his steps was peace attempt between Takeda and Oda clan, so called "Kougou-wayo" during 1580-81.

Some say that it seems to be a surrender actually.

However, Oda regarded it out of question.

This fact is not well-known and I knew it recently. Knowing the incident, I was surprised that Katsuyori sought the survival options including such humilitating way.

Finally, the alliance with Oda, Tokugawa and Houjo attacked Takeda, and Takeda clan was overthrown at 1582 (he committed suicide).

From this story, I feel that diplomacy is vital to keep all entities’ influences powerful and our environment better.
And I would like to say Katsuyori "you did your best".

an ideal boss

If you will be able to chose a historical person as your boss, who do you chose?

Some may cite Oda Nobunaga, and others may Tokugawa Ieyasu, Sakamoto Ryoma, Ito Hirobumi etc.

I know their characteristics and achievements, then I understand the choice.

They had aggressive tempers and excellent leaderships. I take it for granted that many business persons chose them as ideal bosses.

But I would like to name Tokugawa Hidetada, a son of Tokugawa Ieyasu and second Shougunate of Tokugawa regime, as an ideal boss.

ゆーけーのお仕事日記-徳川秀忠
Tokugawa Hidetada

I have some reasons why he is my ideal manager.

At first, he consider each person around him, not only those of high office but also his subordinates or low class citizens etc.

I know many episodes that he expressed considerations and generosity to his subordinates and they strengthened their allegiance to Hidetada (and Toyotomi Hideyoshi made similar stories to Hidetada).

If a manager consider and make a generous comment on the staffs, they will have more motivation to the task.

In addition, he had great insight to politics (not military?). As texts of Japanese history contain, he cotributed to establish political regime of Edo administration through some legistration such as feudal lords act and the imperial Court act.

He is never reputed as an outstanding position as a historical hero, however, I respect him with not only his achievements but also his behaviors as a boss and leader.

If I would work under Hidetada, I would encourage myself to make more effort than my limit to reward his expctations and generosity.

(If Nobunaga would be my boss, I would also make desperate endevour with different reason・・・.)

For these reasons, I cite Tokugwa Hidetada as an excellent manager.
