2011年3月11日、東北地方太平洋沖でマグニチュード9.0の国内観測史上の大地震が発生し、地震およびそれに付随する津波で阪神・淡路大震災を上回る犠牲者が出たことはご存じのことと思います。

また、地震の影響で福島にある原子力発電所に事故が生じ、放射性物質漏れの恐れがあり、近隣住民の避難指示があり、同時に東京電力関係者・自衛隊・警察・消防各位が最悪の事態の回避に向けて動かれています。

まずは震災の犠牲となった方、被災され現在も避難生活を送られている方、これから生活の再建に向けて動かれている方に心よりお見舞い申し上げます。

また、原子力発電所トラブルの最前線で戦われている方々に心より感謝と敬意を表したいと思います。

今回の震災に際して、123の国・地域及び33の国際機関等（3月18日現在） から援助を受けています。

この中には先進国もあれば、発展途上国や小さい国々、あるいは今般の金融危機で財政危機の中にある国・地域もあり、本当にありがたいと思います。併せて感謝の念を示したいと思います。

この震災の中で、多くの方が無念の中に命を落とし、あるいは多くの財産を失いました。

また、原子力発電所トラブルの影響で関東地方を中心に計画停電があったり、電車のダイヤの大幅変更がありました。

当然のことながら日本経済にも大きなダメージをもたらしたと考えられます。

しかしながら、社会としても個々人としても、我々は立ち上がって前に進まなければなりません。

その中で大事なことは、「今、自分に何ができるか」と問い、その答えに従って動くことではないでしょうか。

ということで、今自分にできることを考えてみました。

●被災地に義捐金を送る

●交通状態が改善したころに献血をする

●被災地に行ってボランティアをする

●有用な情報をインターネットを通じて拡散させる（デマを流さないよう要注意）

●メールマガジンで人々を元気づけられるような歴史のエピソードを提供する

●今起こっていることを適切に認識し、特に自分の行うビジネスを通じて、日本社会をどうすればよくできるのかを考える（留学した時に勉強すべきことを考える）

今現在、人々が困っていることに少しでも貢献するのは重要なことです。

しかしながら、将来どうすればこのような悲劇を軽減することができるのか、ということを考えていくこともまた重要なことだと思います。特にこれからの社会を担う若い人にとっては、是非とも考えておかなくてはならないことのように思えます。

若い人といえば、地震が起きて1週間、TwitterやFacebookなどでものすごいスピードで有用な情報が共有されていることに驚いたとともに、非常に心強い印象を受けました（デマなども流されたようですが）。

Twitter上では、多くの心温まるメッセージもつづられています。

prayforjapan というサイトでは、そのメッセージがまとめられています。

僕もこれを読んで目頭が熱くなるとともに、必ず日本は立ち直ることができると感じました。

アメリカのJ・F・ケネディ大統領が就任した時の有名な言葉があります。

ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.

国が何をしてくれるのではなく、国に何ができるのかを問いたまえ、という一節です。

この精神は、今の日本にこそ求められるのではないでしょうか。

行政が、会社が、他人が何をしてくれるのか、という受動的な生き方ではなく、自分が自分のため、あるいは人のために何ができるか。

このように自らに問い続け、自分と他者の幸福を追求していくことこそ、財政危機の中行政に期待できない一方、グローバル化・IT化の中多様な生き方ができる現在の社会で有意義に生きていく秘訣なのではないかと思います。

阪神・淡路大震災の年（1995年）は、ボランティアの試行錯誤の上での活躍があり、またボランティア活動が広く行われたこともあり、「ボランティア元年」と言われます。

そして、今回の震災でも、インターネットなどでこれまでに見られなかった情報や善意の流れがありました。命名されるかどうかは別として、今年もきっと「●●元年」であり、これからの社会が良くなるきっかけになると信じています。

そして、自分の中でもこれをきっかけにいろいろ考える「○○を考える元年」にしたいと思っています。

まずは英語の勉強と、留学中に何を学んでどのような人間になりたいかということの具体化からですね。

More than a day passing after the occurance of the Touhoku earthquake, many facts related with the earthquakes and damages are made clear.

The disaster tolls amount to at least 1,300.

Movies of the tragic tsunami are broadcasted again and again.

Until now, it has been very difficult for us to confirm the safety of residents in disastered area.

Fortunately, Google provided a checking service the safety whose we want to know.

In addition, nuclear plants in Hukushima are suspected their disorders.

As you know, many professionals and civil organizations have expressed apprehensions about danger of nuclear plant and the danger surfaced through the temblors.

The circumstances and perspective of the plants are unclear, however, damages of the plants seem to be profound. Some say that this accident is similar to the case of Three Mile Island, which is a case of radiation leaking of atom plant in USA.

Because of the disorders, electric supply appear to be lack for the demand.

"On 13 March, Tokyo electric company will start rotation electric provision", a report said.

But, the situation is not stable and I am not sure whether the step will be conducted.

Anyway, we need to save the use of electricity to provide more energy to the disastered area.

On Twitter, a suggestion to save the use no matter what the entitiy to use the energy is made. The government and the electric company also ask the citizens to curb the amount of using electricity.

About this issue, I found this photo and I appreciate Gurico which understand and cooperate with the concept.

As you know, an earthquake happened at 14:46, 11, March on Sanriku Coast.

According to Japan Meteological Agency, the Magnitude was 8.8 (180 times as large as Hanshin earthquake). This figure was the biggest since the institution started to gauge tha size. This temblor was named "The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake" (reference ).

Up to now, many damages caused by this earthquake have been reported.

In Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai City, it was cofirmed that more than 300 people were killed by this disaster.

The disaster area stretched across all of Eastern Japan, especially Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi and Hukushima Prefecture.

During coming back home from my office, I found a person who sold a magagine called "The Big Issue ".

The magazines are sold by homeless persons and they can earn some money from the benefit. Accordingly, we can support homeless person to buy the magazines.

The most excellent point of this magazine is to serve both business and charity.

At least, I buy the magazine based not only on charity but also on quarity of the magazine.

As this system has been effective to make homeless persons independent, I admire the system.

Because of the lofty purpose, the magazine can be accepted many support from famous actor/actress or character, such as "the very hungry caterpillar" or Miffy.

They emerge on th covers or cope with interviews to write a special article.

Today, I could chose a magazine from two ones.
The cover of one was Mumin, that of another was Colin Firth who played King Jeorge Ⅵ in "The King’s Speech".

In most cases, I chose a magazine whose cover is famous character rather than an actor/actress because I am not familiar with movies and dramas.

However, I was fascinated with the movie and Colin Firth, the main actor of the movie, I chosed the cover with him.

In the interview to him, it is said that his sister is a voice counselor same as Lionel Logue and she has supported Logue’s idea.

The interview express Colin’s life well and notice us his attractions so much.

From now on, I would like to check him and his movie.

For my tasks, I sometimes make essays.

Today, I got the essays written by me checked by my boss, and then he applauded me.

I was delighted to hear that and I had confidence about my skill to wirte some documents or essays.

For that matter, I have dreamed that I wii be a vovelist who write especially history novels.

When I can afford to spend enough time and energy to write a novel, I want to make a novel which mention Houjou Ujikuni (third son of Houjou Ujiyasu).

Ujikuni was not only an excellent commander who won in many battles but also a good politician who developed his realm well.

It is often said that current prosperity of Gunma Prefecture, specifically fabric industry, was established by him.

Houjou clan and he were defeated by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in Odawara war in 1590 and he died in Kanazawa where was distant from his birthplace and his realm without past glory. Neverthless many people showed condolence for him. This fact attracts me.

Now, I have an objective to enroll MBA course abroad. So it may be a good plan to record activities through the course. But some books about MBA lives are already published.

So, I want to write books of other categories which are different from MBA lives.

Combination business theory and history may be interesting not only because I like history but also the number of fan of history seems to increase.

Anyway, I would like to utilize this talent to write good essays of MBA applications.

Perhaps, when I am accepted by courses and enter an MBA course, my second career will started.

Previously, I had been lazy for a while recently and I attempted to rent a room to study hard (in this article ).

On last Friday, I went to the rental room to check the conditions and make a contract.

I will start to use the space from next Monday. On the day, I will depature from my home earlier than before and study English at the space before my work.

When I confirmed the conditions, most users put many texts on the shelves at their spaces.

Seeing the scene, I felt their passion to their objective and I must learn and imitate their severe attitudes.

From the Monday, I will study English more intensively and spend more time in the new space.

I will force my wife to endure lack of time with me.

When I achieve my short and long goals, I will spend special time with her.

Dealing with preparetion of applications, I often feel many expectations from others.

I appreciate the expectations and I want to avoid betraying them.
